 Academic Scholarship Information

General Information
1.       Scholarships in the amount of $2000 will be awarded to three (3) qualifying graduating seniors from any of the Lexington/Fayette County High Schools.
2.       Scholarship awards are available for students planning to enroll full time in an animal science or veterinary medicine program at an accredited institution. 
3.       Applicants may apply one year at a time as qualifications are met.
4.       Funds will be grated on an annual basis but paid on a semester basis.
5.       Recipients must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, continue in school, and continue to seek an animal science or veterinary medicine degree.
6.       Scholarship recipients will be selected by the end of March 2008. A letter will be sent to each applicant regarding the decision of the selection committee.
7.       Previous applicants and recipients are encouraged to re-apply, provided they continue to meet eligibility requirements.
8.       Finalists may be asked to participate in a brief interview with the Selection Committee.
 
Eligibility Requirements
All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirement:
1.       Must be a resident of Kentucky and Fayette County
2.       Must be a graduating senior for SY 2008-09
3.       Must be able to show evidence of financial need
4.       Must be able to show promise of academic achievement
5.       Must select a program of studies in animal science or veterinary medicine at an accredited institution
6.       Must provide evidence of good character and willingness to help others
7.     Completed application and other forms must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2009.
 

Application Checklist
 

  • Completed application
  •  Written narrative-maximum 2 page double-spaced pages explaining:
         -  Your qualifications
         -  Evidence of your financial need
         -  Explanation of your choice of program of studies (animal science or veterinary medicine)
  • Three sealed letters of recommendation supporting your character, achievements, and potential. One letter should be from each of these:
         - School official (teacher, administrator, counselor)
         - Personal reference (someone who can provide evidence of your personal character and potential)
         - Your choice (can be either a second school representative or a second personal reference)
  • Official high school transcript
  • Copy of ACT or SAT scores
  • Signed Media Release
  • Signed Agreement of Testimony
